About LORNA

Lorna Devine

I undertook training in life coaching and personal performance coaching, as well as complementary areas such as holistic coaching, mindfulness, compassion-focused therapy, spiritual coaching, alignment, and energy mastery. I also explored other healing modalities, including sound healing and breathwork. I was determined to find an effective blend of disciplines that could create real change, expanding my toolkit to support transformation on every level: mental, emotional, physical, and energetic. As my range of skills and techniques grew, I applied everything to myself… until I reached a place where I could finally manage high-functioning anxiety and fully heal from burnout.

My health improved, my energy returned, my relationships stopped suffering, and for the first time in years, I began to feel genuinely happy and at peace.

This journey, combined with years of psychological training and my own research into high-functioning anxiety, led me to leave the NHS and traditional therapy, and create my own holistic framework: The Devine Method®. It blends psychology, tools from evidence-based therapies like CBT, and high-performance coaching.

I’ve supported hundreds of high performers, from members of global Royal Families and CEOs of multi-million-dollar companies to athletes and tech founders in Silicon Valley. My expertise lies in helping these exceptional individuals navigate the immense responsibility, pressure, and internal stress that often accompany success, while improving their fulfilment, relationships, and emotional wellbeing.

I hold a BSc in Psychology, an MSc in Clinical Psychology and Mental Health, and a Postgraduate qualification in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). While this clinical training laid a strong foundation, it was my personal experience healing from high-functioning anxiety that led me to specialise in this work and ultimately, to create the holistic approach I use today. I started my career as one of the youngest therapists in the teams I worked with across the NHS, Harley Street, and private organisations. On the outside, everyone thought I had it all together. New, exciting opportunities were around every corner, and my career was going from strength to strength.

I appeared ‘successful’ to the outside world, but beneath the surface, high-functioning anxiety was taking its toll. My everyday reality was a constant state of anxiety, stress, and never-ending cycles of burnout. I was basing my self-worth purely on how much I achieved, meaning I couldn't stop the hustle ... because then who would I be? The constant grind and stress started to negatively impact my health, wellbeing, and even relationships.

After years of pushing through, my body was finally showing clear signs that something had to change. This led me down a path of self-discovery and personal growth, prompting me to ask: Why is high-functioning anxiety so prevalent in society today, and why do traditional means of treatment not work for me? These questions sparked a research and training journey that I’ve been committed to for the past ten years.

My journey

I coped with childhood experiences through overworking and became a high achiever.

2009-2013

Studied Psychology (undergraduate) and Clinical Psychology and Mental Health (Masters). Worked as an Assistant Psychologist and Research Assistant at University of Sussex, Harley Street, and University Hospital Southampton.

2013-2019

Worked as an Assistant Psychologist, Schools Outreach Therapist and Trainer, Psychologist and then qualified as a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist. Also qualified as a Life Coach and Personal Performance Coach. Worked with thousands of clients in the NHS, private, education, and research sectors, including The Priory, University College London, and The Anna Freud National Centre for Children and Families. Experienced burnout and physical health issues.

2019

Travelled to Bali and worked remotely. Taking time out to travel and recharge led me down a path of self-discovery. I realised I wasn’t living in alignment with my core values and needed to create a life where I was able to do what I love, whilst also looking after myself and my nervous system. Upon my return, I left one of my roles as a therapist and started my own business.

2014-2021

I went on my own self-discovery and personal growth journey, doing inner work with different coaches/mentors and exploring different modalities. I came to realise that true freedom from chronic stress, high-functioning anxiety and burnout needed a blended, nuanced approach – so I created a method to help other people (The Devine Method®). 

With over a decade of experience in the therapy and coaching industry, I have now had the privilege of working with diverse clients: members of the global Royal Family, athletes, high-level executives, elite leaders and entrepreneurs, from thriving start-up founders to tech giants in Silicon Valley.
