From my own professional experience, I knew traditional therapy alone wasn’t enough for me to manage my high-functioning anxiety or other people’s, in my new business. Having already studied Psychology for my undergraduate and a MSc in Clinical Psychology and Mental Health, I also qualified as a life coach and personal performance coach. I undertook training in complementary areas including holistic coaching, mindfulness, compassion-focused therapy, spiritual coaching, alignment, and energy mastery. I explored other healing modalities such as acupuncture, reiki, sound healing, and breathwork. I was determined to find an effective blend of different disciplines.
Growing up, I was extremely driven and ambitious. But underneath it all, high-functioning anxiety was always present. During my university years everyone viewed me as smiley and upbeat, breezing through exams and effortlessly achieving my goals. After graduating, I began working in the NHS and for private organisations as one of their youngest therapists.
On the outside, everyone thought I had it all together. I appeared ‘successful’ but on the inside, high-functioning anxiety was taking its toll. I felt things very deeply, I was stuck in cycles of burnout, self-doubt, overthinking and worry. I based my self-worth purely on how much I achieved. This left me feeling exhausted, chronically stressed and it was impacting my health, wellbeing and relationships.
Eventually, my body began to show me clear signs to slow down and stop. This led me down a path of self-discovery and personal growth. While spending time in Bali, I created an action plan to start my business and gradually transition out of my NHS roles.
It was time for a change.

My range of skills and techniques expanded, until I was able to manage my own high-functioning anxiety and heal burnout with a powerful fusion of evidence-based therapies, transformative tools, and personalised coaching. This journey and the years of work and training led to the creation of my own method - The Devine Method.
“Prior to working with Lorna, I had a lot of anxiety related to speaking at work. The biggest, most tangible result I’m proud to have created so far is the feeling of going into meetings and being more in control.
Prior to meetings I would experience panic and was feeling unconfident in my role, paranoid and fixated on past negative experiences. It was impacting my performance at work and my enjoyment and holding me back. I was feeling stressed, and overwhelmed which impacted my well-being and satisfaction at work which impacted my mood at home. Now, I have the tools to deal with my anxiety in high pressured moments and meetings. The biggest, most tangible result I’m proud to have created so far is the feeling of going into meetings and being more in control. My most powerful breakthrough is the evidence that we put together of all my past experience, disproving my previous thought patterns that I wasn’t clever. It has been such an incredible experience working with Lorna. Hands down the best therapist I have had. Lorna offers just the right level of empathy and understanding and challenging to get me to where I wanted to go. She is incredibly personable and intuitive and I made so much progress in such a short space of time.

“If you are looking for a coach to help you define and achieve what is most important to you, I can highly recommend working with Lorna.
Prior to working with Lorna I had been through a corporate takeover and was at a career crossroads. Lorna helped me get clarity about what was most important to me and work towards those goals. Along the journey I also learned a better balance of expectation and acceptance. It's a cliché, but life is about the journey and gradual progress, the outcome will take care of itself! Lorna was a great sounding board and provided me with an added layer of accountability while establishing new routines and expectations (for myself).”

“Prior to working with you, I was feeling very anxious, had very low self-esteem and was worrying about everything. I now feel like a very different person who is so much kinder to themselves.
Less stressed and anxious too. I’m able to listen to my body and needs without feeling guilty. Working with you has transformed my home life and most importantly my mental health. Everyone is happier, relaxed and it feels like there is less tension in the house. I feel happier in my own skin. For anyone thinking of working with you, I would say put yourself first and go for it. I now have many tools to continue working on myself so that I can progress further. I am definitely going to continue to treat myself with more compassion and work on getting more sleep. This has really made a big difference in the last few months. I will also work with my sensitivities more rather than working against them.”

“The change we have seen individually and as a team and company is remarkable. We seem to naturally be able to communicate openly on an everyday basis. We have seen such a change in the company and the individuals therein that we have further instructed Lorna and retained her services.
We first engaged Lorna in January after meeting at a networking event. Her calm, professional approach gave us an immediate sense of confidence, despite coaching being completely new to us. We began with individual and group sessions to support staff with stress and work/life balance. As things progressed, the team requested senior management join the process to improve communication and better understand each other’s challenges. What followed was transformational. Staff at all levels opened up, shared honestly, and developed a deeper understanding of one another’s roles and pressures. Lorna handled everything with great care and ease, creating a safe space for real conversations. The shift in team dynamics has been remarkable — we now communicate more openly and naturally day to day. What began as stress support has evolved into powerful business coaching. We were initially unsure about the cost, but it has been worth every penny. We’ve since retained Lorna for another six months and can’t recommend her highly enough.

“As a team leader with employees from around the world under near non-stop intense pressure, top of mind is my team’s well-being. I needed help and, for once, I had all my team in one place for a few hours.
– Vice Present Finance (Corporate Wellness)
Fortunately, Lorna was available to come and lead an absolutely amazing coaching session on well-being and stress management. Lorna’s tone and approach were perfect, and everyone left the session edified and fortified.
“Lorna has been nothing short of amazing for my team. One of them even calls her a miracle worker!
– Vice Present Finance (Corporate Wellness)
Lorna strikes the perfect balance between professional and personal in her coaching and mentoring, and I highly recommend her as a real asset to busy executives seeking balance, focus and personal growth.
"Lorna is fabulous at holding one accountable the way you need to. She brings out the best in you that you didn’t even know you had in terms of potential.
Lorna is an amazing psychologist and entrepreneur coach who really helped me get to the next levels over the past few months with my practice/businesses! She’s smart, friendly, engaging, responsive, has great resources for self-inventory and homework, knowledgeable and empathic regarding how to best deal with stress and pressure in work/life and high-functioning anxiety, to grow/excel while moving toward greater work-life balance. She is fabulous at holding one accountable the way you need to. All the things you would want in your entrepreneur coach! As someone in this field myself with sky-high standards, I can whole-heartedly recommend Lorna if you want to have breakthroughs with a wise coach/psychologist who really understands and appreciates the connection and proper prioritization between mental health and performance. Who will bring out the best in you that you didn’t even know you had in terms of potential. Thank you so much Lorna, for I truly couldn’t have had such breakthroughs and success of late with such peace of mind and joy without you!!

"I found Lorna at a time when I was struggling with high functioning anxiety and chronic fatigue and she has been instrumental in my recovery.
Working with Lorna this year has helped me in so many ways. Not only did she make me feel seen and heard, she provided a safe container for me to heal and develop. Through Lorna’s method I was able to transform my mental health and arm myself with a toolkit for the future.

I coped with childhood experiences through overworking and became a high achiever.
Studied Psychology (undergraduate) and Clinical Psychology and Mental Health (Masters). Worked as an Assistant Psychologist and Research Assistant at University of Sussex, Harley Street, and University Hospital Southampton.
Worked as an Assistant Psychologist, Schools Outreach Therapist and Trainer, Psychologist and then qualified as a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist. Also qualified as a Life Coach and Personal Performance Coach. Worked with thousands of clients in the NHS, private, education, and research sectors, including The Priory, University College London, and The Anna Freud National Centre for Children and Families. Experienced burnout and physical health issues.
Travelled to Bali and worked remotely. Taking time out to travel and recharge led me down a path of self-discovery. I realised I wasn’t living in alignment with my core values and needed to create a life where I was able to do what I love, whilst also looking after myself and my nervous system. Upon my return, I left one of my roles as a therapist and started my own business.
I went on my own self-discovery and personal growth journey, doing inner work with different coaches/mentors and exploring different modalities. I came to realise that true freedom from chronic stress, high-functioning anxiety and burnout needed a blended, nuanced approach – so I created a method to help other people (The Devine Method®).
